S E V I S A D I K :: •••• ••• •••• ••• •• ••• • :: During the Sadik's first visit to America with their aunt, Dilara developed a sudden clinginess to her eldest sister. Sevi spoke both languages fluently and served as an interpreter for the young Sadik. She never went anywhere without her oldest sister. When the returned to Turkey, Dilara had gown so accustomed to following at Sevi's every step that it carried on for the next few years. She grew unbelievably close to Sevi and relied on her a great deal, especially when they moved to America.
S H I L O H H A L E :: •••• ••• •••• ••• •• :: Dilara has never made an effort to be friends with Shiloh-- it just sort of happened! She's not as close to Shiloh as her sisters might be, but she has a certain level of trust placed in Shiloh that she can't exactly explain. She has an undeniable connection with Shiloh that her sisters share. Dilara has a considerably strong bond with a girl she can't even communicate with on her own.
E C E S A D I K :: •••• ••• •••• ••• •• :: Ece can always make Dilara smile. She has also become a beautifully wonderful translator for Dilara in the American country. As a result, the bond between the two sisters has grown. While Ece isn't as affectionate as Sevi or Lale, she does bring a certain comedic attribute to Dilara's, otherwise, dull life.
L A L E S A D I K :: •••• ••• •••• ••• •• ••• • :: As the two youngest Sadik's, Lale and Dilara rely on each other for entertainment. Forced to share a room, the two know everything there is to know about each other. Dilara uses Lale to experiment with different hairstyles and new makeup trials. Although, always being together has it's setbacks. They're always at each other's throats-- but the love is always behind every Turkish insult.
T H O M A S R E E V E S :: •• •• • :: Thomas is the first boy (her age) that she's met in America. He's cute and charismatic and already Dilara has found herself entranced by the boy's mien. She struggles to communicate with him and that causes Dilara's confidence to decline; however, she's interested in learning what it would be like to have a conversation without Lale having to interpret. Very few encounters have been made between the two, but that hasn't posed an detour on their inevitable bond.

Chapter One :: ‘Lets Walk’
Dilara was pacing around her sisters, annoyingly tapping Sevi's heel with the tip of her uniform shoes every time she walked by. 'Yapma," Sevi muttered which was her 'kind' way of saying 'bugger off'. Dilara didn't stop. She persisted at poking her sisters nerves until Sevi finally turned around and shoved Dilara away and into Ece, who muttered a swear word under her breath and pushed Dilara back into Sevi. A shoving-fest never occurred. Dilara was saved the embarrassment by Lale's tearful appearance. She didn't take part in her older sisters teasing; she walked alongside Selma, desperately trying to catch up to her sobbing sisters side. But she couldn't squeeze between her three bigger sisters.
It was the first warm day of the month. Dilara had already began walking towards the beach, expecting that her sisters would soon follow. Sevi trotted to her side, laughing and shoving, in her usually gleeful mood. Dilara's mouth widened into an open-mouthed grin. "Çabuk ol!" Sevi yelled after them, pressuring them to hurry along, running backwards along the beach and falling over into the approaching waves. Her sisters laughed and ran to her side, helping her to her feet so they could continue running along the rocky sand.
They ran into the water with their school uniforms on their bodies. They didn't think about the consequences of coming home with wet clothing. The truth was: they were never in trouble. The Sadik sisters had never been reprehended for what they did. They were given a quick slap on the wrist and thrown back outside. They had no idea that this was the last day for that....
They were punished for their salacious behaviour on the beach. Their grandmother, Baba, heard from their neighbour that the girls were 'pleasuring themselves on boys necks' and 'rubbing their parts on boys shoulders'. Baba called her granddaughters 'disgusting'. What started as as innocent game of 'chicken' turned into their greatest defeat. Dilara defied their grandmother; she ran out of the house as her sisters were being hit with the switch. She smashed her Baba's chair against the side of the house and set it on fire.
"What are you doing?" Baba looked deranged, like she was going to pull the hair from her scalp and scream until her granddaughters ears bled.
Dilara looked into her grandmothers eyes and dared to speak defiantly against their elder, "these chairs touched our arseholes! They're disgusting!" She was saved a beating for Lale took her hand and they ran into the streets, with their sisters at their heels. They were in this together or not at all.

Chapter Three :: Next In Line
It was immediately after Ece's attempted suicide that Dilara was thrown into the fire at the young age of twelve. It happened the first day Ece was in the hospital; Dilara was taking over her sisters chores, helping their grandmother fold and shake out the bloodied sheets that Ece was forced to 'sleep' on every night. Baba was pulling at the sheets, Lale was sitting on the bed, reading one of her old school books, and Dilara was looking blankly out the window, wishing for the fresh air that lay just outside.
"I was about your age when I married," Baba was trying to be subtle. Dilara froze, letting the sheets fall to the floor. Lale looked up from her book.
"Ne?" She questioned with a horrible panic in her young voice.
"You'll learn to love him," She said. "You fall in love easy at your age." Dilara looked to her sister, hoping for some sort of assistance; but none was given. None could be thought of. Dilara was being sealed into a wedding and she had barely begun puberty. What was she expected to do? Dilara was not going to have sex with a twenty year old man from her village. She felt like she was going to faint. Luckily, her chores were over and her and Lale returned to their room.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Lale asked; Dilara shook her head. She laid in bed all day, praying that the sun would go down and the whole day had just been a wild dream.

Chapter Four :: Escape
WARNING: descriptions of rape and sexual assault in the following chapter
"The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are."
The night Ece left was the first night Dilara spent away from her sisters. She slept in Ece's room, trying very hard to shut her eyes and fall asleep. The first night Ece left was the first night that Uncle Erol came back. Without Ece to torture, he prayed on the next 'single' woman in the house. Sevi and Selma slept soundly in their room, while Lale hadn't left her bed all day in the room connected to theirs. Uncle Erol stumbled through the door of Ece's room. Dilara shot up in the bed as her uncle came pouring in with a empty bottle of vodka in his head. He dropped the bottle and made haste towards Ece's bed. Dilara didn't say anything. She just sat there, frozen, didn't even wonder what the hell he was doing in there.
"Ece," he muttered before he fell on top of her and took her innocence. Dilara spent the rest of the night scrubbing blood and vodka off her sisters bedsheets.
The following day, Dilara and Lale hiding in Ece's room, sitting on her bed and looked straight out into the trees and grey sky that was blocked by barred windows and locked doors. Lale looked to her older sister and muttered the words they'd spoke to each other since Ece left. "Do you want to leave?" Dilara felt her eyes begin to water when she turned to her sister and nodded silently.
When Ece returned, the girls had it already worked out. They knew how they were going to get out. They knew how they were going to escape.

Chapter Five :: The New World
Sevi did the research. She found a place for the girls to hide. Dilara never spoke about what happened to her uncle, but she suspected that the same thing had happened to Ece. She never asked-- she didn't want to. But she knew that it wasn't all her blood that was smeared over the pink bedsheets. So, Dilara kept her secret. She kept her secret from her sisters and they ran from oppression. But Dilara was running from her uncle. And from a husband she'd never meet.
The first night, the girls spent in an empty 'third-class' passenger bunk, huddling in one bed together, staring at a single mobile phone that Lale had stolen from their grandmother's chest of 'perverted objects'. With the little battery they had left, the girls searched for a place to live. Sevi did research on towns with 'wolves' that may help them connect to their ancestry. They tried to find their aunt, but failed. For now, they would find a home in Baskerville. Sevi was satisfied with the legends that surrounded it and Dilara prayed that it would be far enough from her past.
When they docked in New York, they threw the phone in the ocean and took a bus to Louisiana. They spent three weeks in a motel with questionable mattresses and at the end of those three weeks they met Shiloh, who saved them from insanity and gave Sevi everything she wanted. Dilara, on the other hand, was still looking for 'new beginning'.
