"It's like it's staring at us."
Elsie decided that the new school was the monster of the town, out to eat all of the children, swallowed them through those doors and sucked out their happiness until the bell struck 14:25.
There with her was Elliott and Akila. The three of them were the last to walk down the horrid halls of Primary School. With them, however, was a new friend that Akila had introduced them too. She was called Olivia, about two years older than Elsie; but she must've been really smart, because she was a whole year ahead of most kids her age.
Elsie was five. This was her first year in school, but before that she had gone to school where all her siblings had gone before. Now she was having to start over as a new, new student. At least she had Elliott to suffer with her, and Akila would be down the hall in his fifth grade classroom.
The bell struck and the sound pierced the air like a siren, a warning that hell was open for business. The smallest Quinton exhaled loudly and then took her brother's hand in hers. "Guess that's our cue." And she pulled Elliott towards the building, bouncing along the way so that they would be able to find their class quickly.
She skipped backwards for a moment to wave farewell to her older brother and his friend. "Meet after school, right?" She smiled, without waiting for an answer, because she knew that her brother would be there for them whenever that bell sounded the end of the day.
Time for a whole different kind of adventure to start!

Akila was quiet on the bus ride to their new school. He sat with Olivia and Elsie, his eyes on the trees and houses that passed them on the way to the start of a new year of education. The thought had his stomach writhing like a bunch of snakes. It had taken him a while to make a place for himself at their old school. He had been mocked for his love of reading and his little interest in sports. He would rather curl up somewhere warm and quiet and read instead of running around at recess or playing baseball with the other boys his age at the local park.
He fidgeted as the bus pulled up to school, and he got out, staring up at the school with trepidation. He was putting on a brave face for Elsie, but his stomach wanted to divulge the small amount of food he had put into it that morning. Oh, that would prove to his little sister and Olivia that he was the brave, older child who wasn't afraid of new things. Well, he was. He very much was.
"I'll see ya later," Akila told the younger set of twins as he turned towards his classroom. "Wait for me here," he indicated the front entrance, "so we can get on the bus together." He smiled lopsidedly then marched down the hall with determination. He walked passed kids who gave him wide-eyed looks and stared as if he was an alien invading their halls. He wondered if it's because they already knew where he came from. Surely, if this town was small and talked...
He shook it off and entered his fifth grade classroom. He walked around until he found his seat... in the front row. Crap. Akila groaned inwardly and sat down heavily at his desk. He glared at the name tag that had been placed on his desk "Akeela Quinton". How nice. They hadn't even gotten his name right.
Akila sighed and got his workbook out along with a pencil for the day, feeling the eyes of his classmates darting over to him and holding him with their gaze. Their accents were unfamiliar, and he felt himself retreating mentally to focus on his schooling. The teacher appeared and introduced him, saying his name like "eh-KEY-luh" instead of "uh-KEY-luh". He didn't correct her. He was too afraid.
He kept his head down and nearly dropped his pencil when he heard a kid whisper, "He lives in that haunted house outside of town". Akila swallowed as his vision got black spots on it. Haunted? Their house was haunted?! He had to admit, his suspicions had been high, but ghosts weren't real... right?
"Akila," the teacher said, Mrs. Summers, he thought her name was, "Why don't you tell the class about yourself?"
He stared at her with widened eyes, and as he felt every eye in the room lock onto him, he felt his heart banging against his chest like a caged bird fighting to get out. Akila gulped and simply shook his head, slinking down into his seat and attempting to look as small as possible.
The teacher encouraged him, but Akila just stayed silent. She gave up on trying to get him to talk, and Akila spent the first half of his first day at a new school listening to his classmates whisper to one another about how freaky he was... about how his whole family was bizarre for moving into the creepy old house.

Akila could only take so many stares and whispers. It didn't help that he was sensitive to emotions, and there were a lot of negative feelings going on towards him. He was getting it on all sides at this point, and he wanted nothing more than to sink into the floor and never be looked at again.
Lunch is when he bolted. He snuck out of the cafeteria with his lunchbox and made his way outside to the football field. He slipped under the bleachers and ate his lunch, savoring the silence more than his food. Nobody was staring at him or muttering about him out here. It was peaceful and surreal.
Akila wondered if his siblings were having better luck fitting in than he was. They probably were. Akila could be sweet with his family and anyone else, but he couldn't handle the social anxiety of being stared at. If he knew the way, he would probably try and walk home.
Speaking of home... Akila was noticing the heavy weight of a cold presence was gone. He hadn't noticed before because of how anxious everyone else here was making him feel. Sure, he'd felt the stares, but they were all... of this world. The pressing cold had felt different than human stares.
Akila finished his lunch then began walking along the bleacher seats, carefully balancing and lost in his own thoughts. What if the bell rang, and he just stayed out here? His mom and Juliana would murder him, but he was scared...

Damon had walked to lunch. His favorite time in the school. While he was getting his food he noticed Aklia walking outside. Maybe to eat alone he had no idea. Damon was kind of a loner and he knew that. He was completely fine with that. He had Milo and Demetrey there with him. So they followed his younger brother outside and sat down eating and watching him to make sure he would be alright and not do something crazy.

When the bell rang for lunch, Elsie jumped at the opportunity to go outside. She didn't like being cooped up where everyone around her was chattering about things she didn't understand. The outside was nice, and there was a chance that she'd see her brothers if she left the classroom.
She saw Akila immediately. He was sitting out by the bleachers close to the high school. She sauntered over there with her lunch box swinging at her side, but was stopped when she heard the laughter of her older brother a few metres farther from her. She turned her gaze to him and changed directions.
"Damon!" She shouted as if she was seeing for the first time in a long time. She had expected Akila to be outside, but she hadn't thought to look for anybody else. She hugged her arms around his waist, probably embarrassing him in front of all his friends, but smiled and giggled anyways, because she liked to embarrass her brothers. It was funny.
She took her arms off him and stood there, looking up with her hands tangled behind her back. "You have lunch at the same time we do." She pointed out the obvious, but it thrilled her nonetheless.

Olivia didn't like lunch. She was fine when it came to making friends, but lunch made her nervous. It was because of the Americans. Sometimes the children made her talk and use words just to laugh when it came out of her mouth.
The seven-year-old left the classroom and ventured outside into the sun. It was warmer here than back home. It sometimes surprised her how much sun she saw in one day. Where was the rain? Olivia never thought that she'd miss the rain this much.
Olivia ate lunch with her 'friends' nonetheless. She was laughing with them when she saw one of the kids from the house walking along the bleachers. He looked like he was alone. "I'll be right back." She told the group of girls, and they all giggled at her accent.
She trotted over to the bleachers, hopped on the first step and shook the whole structure. If he didn't see her coming, he knew she was there now. "What are you doing?" Olivia asked, taking another step up. "I know you." She took another step. "You're from the house." She finished, and looked up at him. Her eyes were wide, big and batting innocently.

Elliott shuffled outside when the bell rung. He held his lunchbox in a tight grip, crossed over his chest, and hugged as tight as he could as if he was afraid that someone would snatch it away from him at any moment. He didn't know the place. For all he knew, someone would come over and take away from him, laughing and mocking his stutter like his siblings sometimes did.
There was a quiet place at the end of the school grounds. He wasn't sure if he was allowed that far from the building, but no one had stopped him so he assumed it was all right. After he saw down on a lonely bench sinking into the mud near a large oak tree, Elliott drew out the contents of his lunch and laid them out on the space next to him.
He started by placing them in order at which he would eat; but as he reached into his lunchbox to grab the juice pouch he packed himself, Elliott felt the wind rush over him. He eyes darted to the road, hand still in clutching to his juice pouch, when a tug pulled him off the bench.
Elliott was dragged to the mud. He tried to shout, but his chest hit the ground and the air was knocked out him. He gasped for breath; but a weight covered his back, pushing him deeper and deeper into the mud. He struggled to fight it off, gasping at every kick and every punch until the weight vanished.
The five-year-old fumbled around the mud until he found the glasses that had been knocked from his face. He wiped them off in a hurry and stuck them back on his nose. A shadow appeared behind the glass and when Elliott looked up there was a woman sitting in front of him, covered in dark bruises and sliced around the face. Her skin was rotted and her teeth were black. She smiled and her eyes burned black.
Elliott started to scream. He screamed and he screamed and he kicked and he kicked until he was out of the mud and splattered on the concrete, crawling towards the school. His face was stained and tears poured from his eyes as the fear consumed him.
The woman's legs twisted and her arms bent backwards. She was still smiling, crawling after him with an intensity of a panther. Her body's disfigurement reminded the boy of a spider, which only made him scream louder. She ran, and Elliott froze, turning on his back to brace for the fight; but she jumped on top of him, held him to the ground and let the blood drop from her mouth onto his chin.
He couldn't breathe. He couldn't see. The woman overpowered him, twisting and mutilating her face and her figure to further terrify the boy until he could see nothing but black and hear nothing but laughter.

HARDSHIPS PREPARE ORDINARY PEOPLE FOR EXTRAORDINARY DESTINY
Nevaeh had decided to follow her brother out the front doors of the prison they called 'school' and went to grab some lunch somewhere in town. Neither twin was a fan of school or what school meant when they were there. The twins were used to be freaks. They were used to be on their own. It wouldn't hurt to disappear for a few hours in the middle of the day. Who would even notice?
As the pair pulled into the parking lot of the high school, however, Nevaeh heard the screams of a little kid at the elementary school just across the street. "What the hell is that?" The blue-eyed twin asked her brother, gathering her stuff and leaving the car after the sound.
Nevaeh trotted over to the elementary school with pure curiosity; not necessarily because she cared. Her attention fell immediately to the tree at the front of the school where her littlest brother was rolling around the floor.
"Elliott? What are you doing on the ground, you freak?" The sixteen-year-old felt more embarrassment than anything else in that moment. Of course, it had been her stuttering, idiot brother who screamed and wailed and rolled around the ground on the first day of school.
When he continued to cry and ignore her, Nevaeh stuck her foot out and bumped him in the side. He screamed harder, and even started to cry-- like, cry CRY. "Elliott! Get up!" She screamed at him, now feeling a sudden coldness. Her own fear started to takeover.
A teacher from the elementary school was running. She skid to the floor and cradled Elliott in her hands. "What going on? What's wrong with him?" She looked to Nevaeh, who just shrugged in response and backed up a few paces.
"He's fine." But now Nevaeh wasn't sure if she was just saying that because it was true, or because she felt that it wasn't. "He does this all the time. He's a freak." She didn't pay Elliott that much attention. Was it normal for a five-year-old to freak out like this?
"He's just a freak." She repeated with less certainty. The woman was paying her no mind; she continued to cradle Elliott and hush him as she rocked him back and forth. Nevaeh found herself floating farther and farther away from the scene.
I wanna go home. Take me home.
The voice whispered, and Nevaeh nodded in response. "Okay."

They had been right. A few hours out in the town was way more interesting than spending it in school. Eventually they returned though, during the lunch period and Nikolai let out a sigh. Did they really have to go back? His thoughts were interrupted by Nevaeh.
"What the hell is that?"
"Hmm?" Nikolai was first seemingly uninterested. He hadn't even noticed some kid was screaming, that was normal on school grounds wasn't it? He followed his sister anyway and as they got closer it started to register with him that this screaming was different. It also belonged to their brother.
"Jesus Christ Elliot." He hissed. He wanted to recoil from the scene their little brother was making. Why do the younger ones have to have fits all the time? Nevaeh was screaming at him to get up and she even poked him with her toe. It only seemed to get worse though. Nikolai scowled but he didn't bother trying to say anything. Just then a teacher ran over and held onto Elliot. She demanded to know what was wrong and Nevaeh responded in her usual way. Nikolai remained silent and just shook his head like he didn't know what was going on. Which was true. He thought that Elliot was just trying to get attention or something. Now he was starting to wonder if they really didn't have some kind of mental problem.
As the teacher took control of the situation, Nikolai glanced at Nevaeh as if to say "let's get out of here", but he was surprised to see the look on her face. She seemed to be spacing out. She looked pale and distant, like her mind was a million miles away.
"Nevaeh?"
No response. He repeated her name. Same result. He shivered even though he wasn't cold.
"Nevaeh?!" He reached out and grabbed her arm this time to snap her out of it. He was starting to worry about his twin now. It's like they were all losing their minds. Addressed: Nevaeh Mentioned: Elliot Tags: Ellie @fez Notes: I miss this rp too lol

Elsie could hear the chaos from across the school's court. She felt the ground shake and the earth started to whisper. A sudden pain pressed into her brain; and Elsie could hear the voices of thousands telling her to turn around, to look at the devil in the street.
The five-year-old whipped her head around to see that both the junior school and high school were running towards a tree at the end of the property. Elsie took one last look at her brother, and then took off towards the scene. If he was screaming at her, she couldn't hear him. Something was nagging at her, driving her forward until she came to a skidding stop at the horrific scene.
Her twin brother was laying on the cement kicking and screaming, wailing and flinging his arms around as if to shove something off of his body.
"Elliott!" The child screamed at her brother.
The older set of twins arrived just in time for the teacher to make an appearance. She cradled her twin while Nevaeh and Nikolai shouted at Elliott to 'knock it off'. Elsie turned her heel. She crinkled her nose, and snarled at them. "Shut up! You liars! Shut up!" She stomped her foot and balled her fists, staring at them with such ferocity.
"You're making it worse, you stupid morons!" She caught the attention of some of the younger classmates, and her siblings school mates giggling in response; and then Nevaeh went numb. She stared at the scene without blinking. Elsie charged forward, knocking both of her firsts into Nevaeh's stomach.
When her sister was still in a trance, Elsie started to smack at her violently until the five-year-old started to cry. "Help him! You stupid bitch! Help him!" Elsie screamed. She drew out some words she had heard the others use when they were angry, too. Being the youngest of nine, Elsie had learned a few things.
