Her figure faded from the shadows of the outside lights and she walked around the corners of the walls with her hands brushing against the paint. It was one of the few rooms in the house that didn't have some horrible wallpaper to cover it. Perhaps it has been torn off at some point in it's history. "This room is cold." Nevaeh muttered as her palm pushed up against the frame of the door. She was where she had started. Pushing from the wall, the feminine twin sauntered over to the bed and plopped her bum on the edge of the mattress. "Mattress is new at least." Nevaeh observed, bouncing up and down with her palms pushed against the sheets. Nikolai was asking questions, but Nevaeh was hardly paying attention. She had opened her mouth to answer that last one, but she was sourly interrupted by the silver-haired nanny the older ones had always dreaded. Nevaeh lowered her gaze to the woman's neck and shook her head at the floor. "We weren't planning on being late." She muttered to the woman as she started down the hall to her side of the house. Nevaeh sucked in her breath and frowned. "I can't stand that woman. She's not much older than us and still she acts as if she can rule us." She clenched her teeth and rolled her fists in balls that she pinched to her sides. The youngest of the two twins felt her tongue burning. She waited so badly to run after Juliana and tell her off-- she's wanted to do that since the day she came into their lives. But she wouldn't risk angering their mother... that much. "We could live on our own, you know?" Nevaeh was muttering, but she was speaking directly to her brother. "We could get emancipated and leave all of this madness behind." Nevaeh's suggestion were not realistic, but it was a dream that she had ever since their father died... ever since Juliana came into their life... and ever since she had turned fourteen. She felt her stomach turning in knots. Her anger boiled, but she wasn't one to show those emotions unless it was to her brother, Nikolai. He was less observant of the little details, only that this was his room now and the only presence he tolerated in it was Nevaeh. Soon enough his other siblings would hear him say "get out of my room." if they dared to venture in. He then felt the telltale dip in the mattress from Nevaeh's weight as she bounced on the edge of the bed, testing it's firmness. Then an annoying interruption from their fair haired nanny reminding them to be downstairs at seven. Nikolai only groaned as Nevaeh responded. "We weren't planning on being late." As soon as she was gone, Nevaeh let her thoughts be known on the subject of their nanny, although Nikolai already knew. "I can't stand that woman. She's not much older than us and still she acts as if she can rule us." To Nikolai Julianna was like a little bird, a bird that came to your window and chirped and chirped until you became so annoyed you wanted to smother the stupid bird. She was always nagging him about something stupid, he just tried to ignore her like she wasn't there. "Hopefully she'll have her hands full running after the young ones all over this place that she'll leave us alone." he grumbled. His grumpy mood lifted slightly as Nevaeh talked about them running away together. A smile broke over his face as he lifted his arm to peer at her. "Do you know how many times I've fantasized about us leaving and getting a place like in the city, someplace exciting and cool, where there is always stuff going on..." He paused his gaze moving from hers to the ceiling as he cradled his hands behind his head. "It would be so great to be on our own and not have to listen to anybody else." The smile lingered on his face as he imagined it. They only had two more years before they were legally considered adults and then they could do whatever they wanted, and no one could stop them. Her hair brushed his arm as her head hit the cushion next to him. Her nose turned towards the ceiling and her lips quirked upward as her lids shut over her orbs. Blue now saw black. Her brother's voice rose with her other sense turned off. Her hands flickered over her torso. Her hands pushed against the flesh of her exposed stomach where the shirt off her back was lifted in her stretch. Her feet touched the mattress as her knees rose. Nevaeh frowned, then, at her own imagination. "I want to leave here..." She whispered almost silent. Juliana had vanished from their ears and the sounds silenced down below. She could still hear her siblings running about the halls and calling out to one another. It was Nevaeh and Nikolai that mattered in the end. No one else could come between them and even when the doors closed and the winters came in harsh, it was Nikolai and Nevaeh that stood at the end of it all. Nevaeh exhaled her first breath. "We don't need that foreign bitch running our lives. She knows nothing about us or our family." She was still shaking with the sense of her 'nanny' lurking here in these halls. There would be no peace in this house not with these servants. Not with her siblings. Not with that nanny or her mother. This house was a curse to all of them... but most of all Nikolai and Nevaeh. There was a comfortable peace while they lay there thinking of things beyond their reach. He wasn't sure what it was, perhaps it was their twin connection, but he found a relaxed and calm atmosphere only in Nevaeh's company. Sometimes he wondered if the other set of twins, Elsie and Elliott, felt this deep of a connection. The younger set of twins were as opposite as day and night, and although he and Nevaeh had their differences, they were more of one mind. "I want to leave here..." Nevaeh's whispered plea reached his ears and he turned his head to look at his twin. "Me too. I don't like that she just brought us here without even telling us." He stared at the ceiling again. This old and large house felt like a prison. It's endless rooms and corridors they had yet to explore, and then Nikolai's expression grew thoughtful. At their old home they never had any privacy, someone would always find him and be all in his business. This house though, in a way promised untold places to hide away where the family would no doubt take days to find them. Nikolai felt resolve to explore every nook and cranny of this place as soon as he could. "Maybe the house itself isn't so bad....maybe we can find a place where the others can't bother us." He grinned as he pictured it. Good luck trying to wrangle me. "We don't need that foreign bitch running our lives. She knows nothing about us or our family." Nikolai snorted a laugh. "I don't think she or mother will have much control over us as they think in this house. This place is huge." He turned his head toward his sister again, with a conspiratorial smile on his face. Nevaeh bruised the flesh of her palm with biting nails as her teeth chattered vigorously in the sudden cold. Her disposition cowered closer to her brother and her face scrunched in her agitation boiled nearer to her tongue. The room seemed to swirl, but Nevaeh remained centred. She looked to her brother, reaching her brow to her hairline and watching him from the peripheral of her higher vision. Her nose twitched and her smile bloomed under pallid cheeks. "Let's do it-- let's disappear. It doesn't have to be forever, but let's hide for as long as we can...." She turned her chin to the ceiling and hummed a sweet breath out as her head bowed from left to right. Once and then twice again. "I know I said we weren't planning to, but what if we were... late to dinner?" Nevaeh smirked, mischief spreading across her mouth. "Let's find our own little hideout here in this godforsaken devil house." Nevaeh breathed. "C'mon-- I don't care what mother or her little fair-haired witch does... it's only words. They can't hurt us here." Her chest heaved with the rising of her form. From her brother's affection and the mattress that supported her back, Nevaeh sat up on the bed and looked back down at her brother with a smirk still settled on her mien. He rumbled to himself, watching the twins exchange vindictive words with one another. He could detect negative emotion across the entire house. It fueled him like gasoline to a fire. He was choosing to remain invisible, but his bad influence was ever present. He leaned against a wall, watching the twins. They seemed to be unhappy. "Poor little things," he purred. He folded his arms and rested his leg against the wall to the left of the bed. His dark eyes flickered between the boy and girl. Well, well, well... Trouble in the family ranks? Just what he needed. The shadows clung to him and circled his person like affectionate cats rubbing against him. The twins would make excellent sources of sustenance for him. The more negative the emotions, the better Max felt. He rotated his neck thoughtfully. He would need to keep tabs on these two... They seemed to be the most unhappy. Maybe one of the little ones from earlier seemed equally frustrated with the moving situation, but most of the small ones seemed more afraid than resentful like these two. Max yawned when the two continued to make plans to leave. Oh, that would not do. He needed this kind of energy in his territory. He frowned and cocked his head. Maybe if he treated them one would train a dog: positive and negative reinforcement. They wanted to talk about leaving? Fine. They had given him enough strength to mess with them. He closed his eyes and flexed his neck as if the once flesh had a kink in it. The lights in the room: the lamp near the door and the fixture above, went dark. Not wanting to leave it at that, he stared at the heavy wooden door, which creaked before slamming shut. This could be fun.... Tags: Ellie ; Aquila Notes: Getting him into the scheme of things. ^^

They were both fueled by their imaginings and scheming. As she sat up on the bed and looked down at him he gave her a smirk in return. Then it suddenly went dark. The lighting fixture on the ceiling and the lamp by the door blinked out. With the curtains drawn it became even darker in the room. Nikolai sighed. Did someone forget to pay the electric bill? He was about to open his mouth and make a snarky comment to his twin when the door suddenly creaked and slammed shut. Nikolai frowned. His first thought was someone was trying to mess with them. He groaned casting a glance at Nevaeh, and swung his legs over the bed and stood. "If they're trying to play around with us right now.." he fairly growled a warning. It was probably one or more of the younger ones, maybe trying to scare them. They so didn't want to poke the bear right now. "I swear to God, if you're...." he paused in his threat as reached the door. His voice was raised in irritation but it grew as he tugged on the doorknob and the door wouldn't budge. "Sonofa..!" Did they somehow lock them in? Casting a look back at Nevaeh, he said angrily, "I'm going to throttle them!" He yanked a couple more times on the door and pounded once with one of his fists against the door. "If you don't open this door right now, you will be in for a world of hurt!" Even as he threatened and his body started to shake with anger, he became aware of the cold in the room as well. He hunched his shoulders shoved his hands beneath his armpits. "Not only do they not pay the electric bill, but the heating too apparently!" He glanced back at Nevaeh, he could barely make out her shape in the dimly lit room. Ellie @patch Oof! Not until her brother started screaming did she finally open her eyes and look around the room, covered in darkness. "The hell?" Nevaeh muttered as she skipped out of the bed and wandered blindly to where the door was located before the room went black. "What are those idiots doing?" Nevaeh shook out her hair and cracked her fingers. Her siblings were the worst of the worst when they wanted to be. She came to her brother's side, feeling his shoulder brush up against hers as she met up with him at the door. It was locked. She huffed. "You have got to be kidding-- When I get out of here I will rip your hair from your scalp and shove it down your little throats--" She kicked and punched and punched and kicked until the door shook and the lights flickered on (for a second) before it went dark again. Nevaeh was still hitting. She was still pounding at the door until her fists were white and her palms were red. She was vibrating from the shear anger that possessed her now in this moment. But that wasn't the end of the torment. Then there was a screaming and that horrible screaming was coming from outside their door. "Those little shits--" Nevaeh hit the door one last time before she heard it crack from within. The screams erupted through their ears and endangered them all. Nevaeh tugged and kicked until the door pierced open and dull, green light shone through the bottom of the door.
