The Main Foyer or commonly known as the Living Room is the largest room in the house. It's in the middle of the second floor, across from the grand staircase and tucked against the largest windows of the house. It's lined with the music room and the library and gets the most light out of the whole house with the exception of the music room.

"the fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose"
Lucille saw her children off and then found herself alone with two little children that he had never asked to be around. She had her own children to watch after. Why her servant decided to leave these children under her watch was unfathomable to Lucille, but she had no time to argue against it for the British bitch had disappeared down the servant's stairs. She was alone for a moment when all of the sudden she wasn't alone anymore. A darker toned woman came out of the shadows with her hand folded out in front of her as she approached the light skinned blonde. Her big brown gaze followed her path to Lucille, asking the question that everyone had been asking since she left Connecticut.Lucille could only shake her head in dismissal. "I don't need anything." She said finally. "We're gathering everyone in the Foyer." Lucille stated then. "The small British one left to find them. Left these here." Lucille ducked her head over to the children that were still standing in the halls under their protection.
In the Main Foyer, just off the hall and tucked behind a door, Lucille allowed for the children to follow. She wasn't really sure where else they would go. She didn't want them around her children... Not now at least, not while her children were angry and confused. "Tell me about the house. There is still work to be done, but how is the staff? Are they good at what they do? Or do I have to bring in my own people?" Lucille asked cooly towards the other half of the management.Word Count :: 318 ADDRESSED: emma mentioned: victoria, oscar, olivia, quintons, staff notes: silver, I hope you don't mind that I carried this conversation over to the Foyer

"The other staff members are great. They keep to their selfs most of the time. The house does need a little more work but we have that covered with the grounds keepers. The cook makes excellent food as well. And i see you have met Victoria already." She said as she listened and answered her questions. She did hope she would learn to like it in the house even with its creepy ways.

There was a lot of commotion all of a sudden as a woman and her children of all ages entered the house like a raging storm. Oscar pouted. It was too loud, too disorganized, too chaotic for the young boy. The children trudged upstairs to find bedrooms, as the woman spoke coldly to Victoria and the other servant who appeared. He couldn't fathom staying one night in this house and this family was going to live here? They must all be crazy. One quick glance at his little sister and he saw the instant dislike for this blonde woman in front of them who dismissed Victoria so easily. Then Victoria disappeared suddenly to take care of some business leaving the two of them alone with this woman. Realizing it was just him and Olivia with strangers, Oscar unconsciously moved in front of his sister in a protective way. He rarely showed the big brother, protective side of himself but this instance it became glaringly obvious that is was him and Olivia against the world. They only had each other. He stilled glared disapprovingly at the woman who seemed to think she was better than everyone else in the house. He held his sister's hand as he waited for Victoria to return. The woman questioned the staff about the other servants and about the house, she hardly glanced at them at all. Oscar observed everything and knew this woman would be no good watching them, she hardly seemed like she watched out for her own children. He tugged his sister along next to him as he walked to one of the couches in the foyer. "Let's wait for Victoria here."

She didn't want to listen to the American, but her brother followed into the Foyer with ease. He was so susceptible sometimes. Olivia dashed to the couch, scooting to the far end where her brother was seated and pressed up against him, kneeing him into the cushioned arm.
"We don't have to listen to her." Olivia grumbled. Her arms wrapped around her torso as she furthered herself down to the corner of the couch. She touched her toes to the floor and looked up at the door and then at the two Americans speaking now with their backs towards the children.
Emma was kind, but she wasn't always very observant. Olivia didn't care for her either way. Her distracted for the rich blonde, however, was appreciated. Olivia leaned into her brother and whispered, "Come on. We don't have to sit here. We can find mum on our own." Olivia huffed in high pitch.
The room was suddenly small. Olivia took her brother's hand without hesitation and pulled him off the couch and dragged him back out of the room. She wasn't looking for her mother, though. She was just freeing herself from the company of the American snot and the gullible manager.

LIFE IS A PILE OF GOOD THINGS AND BAD THINGS...
Of those under her protection at the estate, Michael was among her list of favourites. He was calm and soothing. He talked to her like Matthew used to and that made her heart warm. It also made her heart break, but the warmth kept it from falling apart. Her hand had fallen over his in the moment that it made contact with her shoulder and she met his gaze with shaking brown irises. Victoria raised her brow and shook her head in a slow, thoughtful motion. "Wait 'til you meet her..." Her voice all ready soaking with contempt for their 'overlord'.Victoria walked a few gentle steps in front of the rest. Her mission was to bring the staff to Lucille and she was about to complete it. It would be her first completed command from her new 'overlord' as Michael had nicknamed her. "Fix yourselves. Talk slow and proper. She's rich and she's not shy about it." Before they reached the room, Victoria glanced behind her at the army at her backside. She looked over them, examining their clothes and their demeanour.
When the room came into viewing, Victoria pushed open the doors and looked around the room. Her children had disappeared. Mother-- Victoria would handle it later. She couldn't search for them now. Victoria stalked behind the pair and cleared her throat as a warning. "Mrs. Quinton. The Staff is here."
Lucille turned to face her new servants. Her face remained stone. She motioned for the staff to line up and she circled around the darker estate manager and walked to Victoria. "Have them line up here." She ordered and walked in front of them like a general in front of an army.Word Count :: 321 addressed: lucille, michael, staff mentioned: emma, Olivia, Oscar notes: Excited! xD tags: @patch @aaka2013 Aquila Alec Piper

Michael followed Victoria to the foyer, the rest of the staff at their heels. As they stood and Victoria announced their arrival, the blonde woman turned around to get a look at them all. She was quick to dole out orders, like having them all line up so she could inspect them. Michael complied . He stood still as her eyes traveled over him, but he also inspected her. Their new owner was exactly what he had pictured, young and beautiful, rich and entitled. She had probably never know a moment of hardship before. He knew of their situation though, he had done his homework about this family. They were grieving the loss of a husband and father. The woman, although she wanted to present someone well put together, sported dark circles under her eyes and an unsteady gait.Michael watched as Victoria all but lined up with them after she announced them. Victoria he had come to know as a smart confident woman, she was good at her job and they all respected her. He was fond of her himself, but as he watched her quail under the gaze of their new employer he felt a strong urge to shield Victoria from the woman. So Michael did what he was exceptionally good at, bringing attention to himself. He spoke up to draw the blond socialite's gaze to him. "My name is Michael. I am your butler, and I am at your beck and call for whatever you need to make your transition here as smooth as possible." He smiled at her in a professional and courteous way, dipping his head slightly with his introduction. "I'm sure you and your family will feel at home here in no time."
If nothing else Michael exuded confidence, like he believed in every word he said. He had no doubt he was the best in his field. He knew this woman's type, rich and no doubt spoiled, who only saw you in the role you performed for her. Not as a husband or wife, a father or mother, a brother or sister, or whatever other role you have in life. He had no doubt she would only see him as a butler and nothing else. He had learned not to take things personally, he could cut this woman some slack because of her circumstances. If anyone needed some rest and relaxation it was this woman, and who knew how to dole that out better than him? JULIANA Juliana followed the sounds of her boss's voice along with others. The children would make their way down, but for now they needed to be left at their own devices while they adjusted to the house. She knew how the children felt about her, so she often gave them their space if she felt they needed to be left alone. She yawned a little, a side-effect of driving for so many hours before stepping into the foyer, moving to Lucille's side like a tiny but vicious body guard.
She raised her eyebrows at Micheal and Victoria. They were either going to be efficient and on top of their jobs or absolutely awful. Her gut told her so.
The nanny's grey eyes moved over the room with deep distaste. The animal trophies were nasty and tacky, and she didn't bother to hide the look on her face. She sighed deeply and crossed her arms, looking the newer staff full on. If there was going to be any issues, she needed to be there with Lucille and the kids.
When Micheal spoke, however, her face softened a little. Another Brit.
"My name is Michael. I am your butler, and I am at your beck and call for whatever you need to make your transition here as smooth as possible."
Oh, mama. He was pretty, and his voice was equally so. He could definitely be on her beck and call. She gave the new staff a brilliant smile, holding out a hand to each of them in turn. "I'm Juliana Grey. The nanny." She then stepped back and took her position beside Lucille, indicating that her boss was the one who was talking and calling the shots. She just protected the family.

"the fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose"
Lucille watched as the vertically challenged Brit lined her inferiors against the back wall of the foyer. The staff wasn't as magnificent as Lucille had been expecting-- she would have to find more servants to fill her household as soon as she was able. There were three British servants in her service now. While her first inclinations were more pleasantly drawn towards the male Butler, Lucille did have a firm admiration for her children's governess. Juliana was the fairest of all her children's caretakers and honest friend. The other Brit, however, was a bit of a passion and Lucille didn't know how she felt about that passion.Looking over the Ramsay staff, Lucille raised her chin to the air to make her little self seem taller in front of her inferiors. "You will live in this house. You will respect me and my children and Ms. Grey. You will address me as 'ma'am' and my children as Ms. or Mr. You will attend church and local functions should I ask and I expect all relationships and personal business to stay out of this house." Lucille's gaze drifted over the visage of the servants and her face fell to the little estate manager. "Romantic relations between staff and..." Lucille stopped. Her house was raising in years and her boys were getting... more mature. She feared their generation's desires more than she wished to admit. "Are forbidden. No exceptions."
Lucille drifted again from gaze to gaze. She bowed her head to the floor and was ready to dismiss the service when a voice rose to her ears. "What if we can't live in the house?" The voice wasn't small, but it was soft and northern... the British Estate Manager. "And why wouldn't you?"
Victoria's gaze rose to meet Lucille's. Her face unchanging. "I have children." The Brit challenged. Her gaze grown steely. "And your husband?"
Victoria shook her head and breathed, small and unsteady. "I don't have a husband." Lucille felt her heart quicken. One of her higher-ups, a sinner and a reckless whore. "He died." And her heart slowed and she felt that similar pain sting her heart again when she remembered her own husband... "Fine. Your children may come here if need be, but your focus must be your work." Lucille bowed her head once. Victoria responded as Lucille commanded and she finished with a slow decline from the front, falling back in line with the others.

The Butler watched as the woman Lucille inspected them all, in her expression he could read she was not impressed by their appearances. He was not surprised, he expected as much. She observed them like they were a brood mare or a stallion she intended to buy...not as people. Still he was resolved to show her he was more than meets the eye. Before she could speak though she was joined by a young woman. She was more like a young girl, tiny and petite, with white blonde hair. Michael almost thought she was one of the children for a moment as she came and stood beside Lucille.
The girl looked around the room with obvious distaste, and then looked at the staff in the same manner. Michael wanted to laugh but he bit his lip and kept a pleasant smile on his face. He thought he caught her eyeing his person so maybe she didn't find him so disagreeable. She introduced herself as Julianna Grey, the nanny, much to Michael's surprise. So she was also employed by Lucille, although it was plain to see she valued herself above the others in her service. He raised an eyebrow slightly as she took position beside Lucille after like they were closing ranks in the military. For such a tiny woman, she must be hard as nails to watch over such a brood, Michael concluded.
His attention was returned to Lucille as she stated the "rules" for the house. Another surprising statement as their employer seemed to think they'd engage in some kind of debauchery under her roof. He pressed his lips together in an attempt not to smile as she forbid relationships. His gaze stared at the ground as she continued with her expectations. Church? Michael couldn't remember the last time he stepped inside a church. He had left religion behind a long time ago. Better not tell her you're an atheist. Again a smile threatened on his face. "Romantic relations between staff and..."
He raised his eyes to meet hers as she paused in her sentence. She couldn't even say it herself! "Are forbidden. No exceptions." Michael remained silent but nodding in understanding for her. What did she take them for? Degenerates that would seduce her children? His focus again was dragged to Victoria as she protested living in the house. Oh right, her children. They seemed well behaved enough for Michael, although he didn't spend much time with her children. He suspected they were better behaved than the Quinton children.
Lucille then inquired about a husband and Michael's eyes slid over to Victoria. "I don't have a husband. He's dead." His eyes softened at the brunette who was doing her best to keep her dignity in front of their demanding employer. "Fine. Your children may come here if need be, but your focus must be your work." Michael wanted to snort at the blonde's comment. All they did was focus on their work. Victoria especially. How many times had he tried to convince her to come out and have a drink? She always turned it down. He kept himself professional, but couldn't help but respond with, "It always is."

JULIANA The nanny sighed in resigned sort of way when her boss laid out her criticism of the staff and her rules. Sure, the room looked tacky, but the staff didn't look bad. Who could go wrong with a room full of Brits? When Lucille mentioned having the staff go to church, Juliana did roll her eyes the tiniest bit behind Lucille's back. She despised the Catholic church and all of its hypocrites. She rocked on her heels and smiled a little. Juliana was a wiccan with some side beliefs in elemental worship and Pagan, but she only believed in elementals. At least you could see the earth, water, fire, and air. She lit candles for them every week and said prayers. During the solstice each year, she did a ritual in the forest. Those were literally her only two days off. To her, her religious beliefs were too complicated to explain to someone else. After all, most of this country considered themselves Christian. Ugh.
Juliana frowned at the look on Lucille's face when she addressed Victoria. Now, now. The judgements were getting a little... "I don't have a husband... He died." The tiny nanny's eyes flickered up at Lucille then back down. That shut her up. Deciding to move into the awkward void, Juliana stepped up again and smiled at Victoria. "I would be more than happy to watch over your little ones, too, if you need me." She could handle it. Even if the older Quintons despised her, at least they were bloody afraid of her. She could keep them all in line for the most part. The little ones got into trouble, too, but they liked their nanny. And she adored them for it.
Lucille was probably not feeling all that high and mighty now that she had been slapped in the face with the reason she and her brood were here in the first place. Juliana gently took her hand and smiled at the new staff members again. "I think it would be best we leave these hard-working people to their jobs, love. You could use some rest and food." She patted her arm and gave the staff one more smile, though she focused eighty-percent of her attentions on Micheal. She looked back up at Lucille. "Come along. I hope there's something lemony for dessert. I adore tarts." Her grey eyes shone with an almost childlike excitement. Getting the family back on their feet was priority number one. The children needed their mother, and their mother needed to mourn in peace before being able to take care of them properly.

Tristian stood still as he watched the new boss give out orders. He stepped forward and said "im Tristan your cook. I can cook just about anything you could want. What ever you want ill cook it. Is there anything....special the b... Kids would need to eat?" He asked her as he was about to say brats instead of kids but he corrected himself before he was able to finish the word itself.
Alice then stepped forward as well after Tristian did and gave him a smile. "Im alice i am one of the staff memebers here. I am here to make sure you are comfertable in the most possible way as well as your childeren." She said looking at her new boss. She hoped the childeren where more well mannered and nicer.
Chapin stood up. She was probably the youngest out of them all. "Im Chapin your grounds keeper at least one of them." she said to her. "If theres something that needs fixing then im the one to help wjth that or if there is anything that needs to be done in the yards." She told her. She wandered about the childeren ahe had.

LIFE IS A PILE OF GOOD THINGS AND BAD THINGS...
Victoria hummed to her sweet master's surrender. Lies she might have sputtered, but freedom from her master's narrow assessment she had. The round-eyed brunette took her moment of victory, which came from her namesake, and tucked to Michael's side.
Her chin brushed over his shoulder as she leaned in to whisper, "I think she's starting to like me." Her small lips curled into a smirk as she shied from his affection once again. Her attention turned back then to her superior and her silver-haired 'pet'.
Lucille's last comment had the rest of the staff bickering and Michael's voice floated over them, demanding silence. "It always is." Victoria's heart dropped to her stomach and her cheeks fluffed red. 'Thank you'. She mouthed when his gaze fell to her in that moment.
The room seemed to drift from conversation to conversation and the master seemed bored all of the sudden. Her silver-haired 'pet' attempted to distract her, draw her away from the staff, and think upon something other than the sinners that ruled under her roof. If only she knew what kind of 'sinner' Michael was, perhaps she wouldn't watch him with that eye of favouritism.Word Count :: 228 addressed: michael mentioned: Juliana, lucille notes: I see a friendship brewing here-- ^.^ tags: Aquila @patch

Lucille seemed to dismiss them after that, most of the staff turned around to return to their previous endeavors. All in all Michael didn't think this meeting was better or worse than anything he'd experienced in the past. The nanny Julianna was trying to convince her mistress to have some rest and food.
"We have the best cooks under this roof. Perhaps they can whip something lemony and sweet up and I can bring about some refreshments later?" He raised an eyebrow entreating and cajoling, in an attempt to put them at ease. Popping in to check on the new inhabitants of the rooms upstairs would start him off on the right foot with the family he mused. He let his gaze fall to the nanny who suggested a lemony treat was her favorite, and he treated her to a dazzling smile.
As Lucille and Julianna turned away and Michael turned and caught Victoria's eye. She seemed a bit more relaxed and confident in herself now. He remember how she had leaned into him and whispered, "I think she's starting to like me." He had to keep from smiling at her attempt at humor. What he also tried to ignore was the sensation of her hair being a hair's breath away from his jawline as he inclined his head toward her, or the sweet scent of something, he didn't know what, perfume or shampoo? Whatever it was it smelled damned good. Her presence quickly pulled away though, and he had focused back on their employer.
Now he looked at Victoria again and gave her one of his famous smiles and spoke softly as he leaned in toward her again on his way by. "I think that went well." Ellie @patch @aaka2013 Rawr! XD

LIFE IS A PILE OF GOOD THINGS AND BAD THINGS...
Lots of 'thinks'. Ideas floated around the room and talk of sweets and lemons echoed under the carved roof. Most of the staff had talked their best and mentioned their power traits to the masters of the house-- to the mother of nine and mother madness as far as Victoria could tell.
Victoria curled her head towards the butler as his voice filled her ears once more. When all of the other's voices seemed to fade into the background, it was Michael's that rose true. It was like that. It was always like that. Michael was an honest voice in the ones of lies and hidden truths. Victoria should know.
"You think?" Victoria smirked with a little twinkle of mischief in her mien. "Personally, I think we all made brilliant introductions." Her child coming out a little even as she hit by her new employer.
Victoria wanted to follow the rest of the staff as they started to move towards the door and the hall, but something prevented her from moving. There was a scream coming from upstairs and it tore through the entire house. It ripped a hole in the walls and echoed through every nook and cranny.
She looked to Michael in that instant with some concern in her eyes. Her heart started to beat fast and furious in it's efforts until her chest was throbbing. Her first instinct told her it was her own children, but that scream was so unfamiliar.... It didn't make the threat of her children in danger any less terrifying.
She panicked. "I have to-- make sure that's not mine." Victoria had stumbled over some words, but she made the sentence come out and she ran for the stairs. Her heels were followed shortly by not just one, but several other footsteps.

"the fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose"
Fine. The staff seemed nice. The staff seemed likeable, but she didn't care about them being likeable. She cared more about them being capable. She had nine lives to consider when she chose this house and nine lives to look after when the staff was to be looking after her. But then, she could barely take care of one child let alone nine. Needless to say, the staff was important to her.Lucille was taken back with her fair-faced and fair-haired nanny. She seemed quite eager to distract Lucille from the new service, which had originally irritated Lucille, but as the fatigue started to settle she didn't feel much like arguing. Well... that was never true. Lucille always could find the energy to argue.
"How about you let me decide what's best for myself... love?" She snarled. "Do not proceed to think that you are above them, Juliana. I am still your boss and you do not undermine me in front of the staff. Have I made myself clear?" She breathed. Exasperated. She didn't realise that Juliana would be her hardest chore in this house.
The mother of nine shook her head and turned back to the staff for a final farewell. Her tone suddenly challenged, lighter and sweeter. "Thank you for all of your welcomes. I will certainly be coming to you soon. And don't worry about the children." Lucille turned to the cook. "They eat whats in front of them or they don't eat." She was prepared to leave it at that. But then came the screams and a thud from the upstairs as a body fell to the floor.
That mother instinct proved deep in her. Lucille perked up immediately. She jumped to attention with her eyes shot wide. "That's Theia..." She knew her daughter's voice. She knew those screams. Lucille ran. She ran for the stairs. She ran without regard for anyone else around her. That was her daughter that was screaming.Word Count :: 362 addressed: juliana, Tristan, staff mentioned: children, Theia notes: going upstairs tags: @patch @aaka2013 Aquila Piper @fez @derek

LIFE IS A PILE OF GOOD THINGS AND BAD THINGS...
Victoria left the conversation with that. She nodded a small gratitude towards the fair-haired caretaker, and then ventured downstairs towards the foyer at the front of the house.
Her heels clacked against the linoleum floors and echoed across the vacuous case of stairs. She frowned, however, when she reached her destination and found that Lucille was no longer there. With a little pout of her lips, she exhaled and turned her back to the room.
But as she was getting ready to find her, someone laughed within the room. Victoria turned back towards the space, examining it one last time and seeing no one there. She shook out her hair and blinked once when the sound echoed again.
"Hello?" She ventured the question and walked forward, aware that she was almost stalking across the floor. "Is someone skipping school?" She asked, assuming that the laughter had come from a child. It was soft and light, like a child's usually was.
She sighed. It was the only reasonable explanation. "You'll be in serious trouble with your mother, if you are." She pointed out, and a voice sounded back. 'Not my mother.' The voice was definitely a girl's, definitely a child's. "Seriously, I'll have to tell your mother..."
Silence was her only response. She thought that the child was hiding, so she started peeking behind the couches, under the tables and desks, when suddenly a window pushed open and a violent breeze carried across the room, picking up papers and books and throwing them out to the floor.
Victoria rushed to the window, locked it closed, and starting picking up all the things that had fallen to the ground, completely forgetting about the empty voice that had called back to her moments before.
