If he was in trouble and needed to be spoken to, it was always Michael and not Lucille. He respects his mother though, because that was his father's example. Since Michael's death the distance between him and his mother is increasing. He sees her as a fragile individual, more so now than before. To Nikolai's mind, keeping his mother in the dark is somehow protecting her. Sometimes he feels a little irritated that she seems to expect him to look out for his younger siblings all the time, especially his twin sister.
DAMON :: •••• •• ••• •• • • • As an older brother, Damon always seemed aloof and a bit of a troublemaker as well. He could be a jerk sometimes but he could also surprise you. Since their father died, Damon has been distant and closed off to nearly everyone in the family. Nikolai relates to him because he was also close to their father and it has affected him. Damon has built a wall around himself to keep others out, and that suits Nikolai just fine.

As twins they share a special bond that he shares with no one else. They always seem to be in tune, on the same wavelength. When Nevaeh is in pain, he feels it and vice versa. She's his best friend, confidante, partner in crime. They have no secrets from each other, he couldn't keep anything from her if he tried. Admittedly, it has always been Nevaeh more often than not who drags Nikolai along with her into trouble, but Nikolai is always there to pull them out again. She can always count on him to be a willing accomplice. Nikolai is always on her side no matter what.
THEIA :: •••• •• ••• •• • • • :: He was really never close to Theia even before their father died. She was mostly on her own, off in her own bubble. Nikolai never minded. Theia is pretty chill and relaxed and is pretty much a recluse from the rest of the family. Her quiet and reserved behavior makes it easy to stay out of each other's way. He never has to make any effort for Theia, which suits Nikolai fine as well.
AKILA :: •••• •• ••• •• • • • :: Akila is perhaps the most pleasant out of all the Quintons, which says a lot since the boy was adopted. Not that that mattered at all to Nikolai. Akila was a bright ball of sunshine addition to the family, all the world was good and agreeable in his eyes. Since the death of their father Akila has been sad and depressed, like they all had. He spends much of his time alone now, reading or drawing. It creates an atmosphere that Nikolai has trouble being around.
ELSIE :: •••• •• ••• •• • • • :: Elsie is the annoying little sister. She likes to follow her older siblings around everywhere. Nothing is more irritating though than how she likes to cling to Nevaeh. Nikolai feels like it's become his job somehow to pry Elsie away from Nevaeh. He'll often tease her with sarcastic words, but in the end he is still a protective older brother for her. Most of the time he just ends up humoring her.
ELLIOTT :: •••• ••• ••• •• • • • :: Elliot probably gets the most of Nikolai's sympathies out of his siblings with the exception of Nevaeh. Elliot is complete opposite in personality from his twin, he is calm and gentle. He stays out of their way most of the time and plays with Elsie. Elliot never asks or demands anything from him. Even though he doesn't spend much time with Elliott, Nikolai is very protective of him.
JULIANNA :: ••• • • • • • • :: The nanny. Julianna takes it as her duty to watch over all of the Quinton children, but Nikolai finds her a giant pain in the ass. She was brought on to mostly look after the little ones, and he wishes she'd just focus on them and leave him alone. He's not a child for god's sake! It's ridiculous to him for a young woman to be fussing over him or Nevaeh. He finds it irritating and also uncomfortable to have a young woman all up in his business now that he's sixteen.
Backstory
Chapter One
The Terrible Twos
Even in his earliest memories, Nikolai was never alone. There was always Nevaeh. They had older siblings, and then younger siblings came after them. They had a full house. There was always someone around, never a moment to yourself. Privacy was a hard thing to come by, but Nikolai grew used to it. This was the family he was born into. When he was born, Nevaeh came right after and they had been inseparable since. She was his first playmate, and it didn't take long before they both realized what a great combination they made together. They were terrors. The worst, most misbehaving toddlers the world had ever seen. Even while they were young, it became apparent that Nevaeh had a knack for coming up with ideas that would lead them into trouble, and Nikolai had a knack for figuring out how to make their mission succeed.
Whatever they did, they were together. Once Nevaeh ended up getting sick and having to stay home from school. Nikolai was forced to go to school alone, and he hated every minute of it. Maybe it was because they were twins, they shared that special bond, but nobody understands him like Nevaeh.
As they got older, their bond only increased and they perfected their troublemaking skills. In school they became quite infamous, and that was saying something as their older brother Damon, already had a troublesome reputation himself. The Quinton twins took it to another level.

When Nikolai entered his teens, his rebellious behavior peaked. The bratty behavior he exhibited as a child, he might have grown out of. Then their father died. Besides Nevaeh, out of the rest of his family members, Nikolai was closest to his father. His father who was once a doting father, became someone that Nikolai no longer recognized. His behavior and manners changed so drastically due to his brain tumor that it instilled a deep fear inside Nikolai. Whatever his dad had been feeling or thinking he obviously couldn't take it anymore as he decided to end his life and leave his family behind. The idea of losing one's mind was so terrifying to Nikolai, he'd prefer death over going through something like that. This similarity in thinking to his father's end became a turning point for Nikolai.
Instead of maturing in his behavior, it worsened. It became more dangerous. At home his family was in mourning, that sad hopelessness that his mother and many of his siblings exhibited became unbearable to Nikolai. He wanted to block out the pain, the sadness, the loss. He found his distraction in a group of unsavory friends. None of them were what he'd consider real friends, not one of them knew anything personal about him at all. He used them, and they used him. They brought him into a delinquents world of stealing, vandalism, alcohol, and avoiding the law. To Nikolai it was a distraction. It was an escape.

A new Town, a new Beginning?
Then one night their mother upped and dragged them all out of their beds and piled them in the car. They fled their homes like wanted felons. Nikolai thought that maybe his mother had lost her mind as well. They were all confused, but while the little ones went along with their mother, Nikolai resented being displaced from everything he knew. Maybe she suspected what he and Nevaeh were up to and decided they needed a fresh start in a new town. Whatever the reason, Nikolai was not impressed with this new town, or their new home. Not that that made a difference at all. He was sure their mother and siblings were clueless about everything else. He knew that Nevaeh was involved with drugs, as she knew what he was involved in. Both of them were figuring out how to continue doing what they had been doing even in this new town. He was desperate for some kind of familiarity. Nothing else in their lives makes sense, he just wants to be away....away from here and his family. His family are becoming strangers to him, he avoids them and they avoid him, all except Nevaeh.

~Nikolai is your typical angsty teenager, he is pretty much a brat to everyone with the exception of Neveah.
~Nikolai was very close to his father. Although he'd never admit it, he misses his father very much. It affects him much more than what he lets on.
~When he was younger, Nikolai was a sweet boy. It's only since his father died that's he's turned into a big jerk. He's closed himself off from most everyone.
~He used to be artistic. He liked to draw and play the piano, but he stopped doing those things after his dad died.
