Coven of Roses: The Birth of Baskerville
There were once witches and warlocks in every community, in every village, in every small town. Cities were overrun! The rest of the world was oblivious to their influence, but the witches were there. They've always been there. During the scare of the 17th century witch trials, most covens were forced to split and run. One witch, seventeen years of age, by name called Amelia BelRose, escaped to Louisiana where she founded a large area of land later known as "Baskerville". She was drawn to the spot for it's vibrant energy. Power seemed to grow in the roots of the trees.
In 40 short years, the BelRose witch had her own coven of lost witches. They cast a spell over the town that protected them from the trials. Here, the witches owned their power and practiced openly. As time went on, the witches grew weaker and humans became more and more of a threat. They were forced to hide themselves in the safety of their town; but Baskerville continued to grow and became a power spot for supernaturals of all races.
The High Priestess of the coven named after the BelRose founder always held power in the town. The first High Priestess was the Mayor of Baskerville. Her daughter would go on to hold prominent positions on the town council and even in the state's congress.
Time proved that power would always shift, but the BelRose families continued to raise their oldest daughters as the High Priestess until a few decades back. Since only a female witch can take over as leader, the bloodline ended with Devona BelRose. With no children to carry on her regime, Devona was forced to name a distant cousin as her heir: a Bellamo daughter. When the oldest daughter refused the responsibility, it was Madeline Bellamo who resumed the position.
