My mom left when I was four. I don't really remember her, but I remember being told about her. Bonnie said I was "lucky". I was lucky because I never had to "survive" our mother. Our dad is a good guy-- a really good guy, but he's soft. He thought he could fix her, and he couldn't. Bonnie doesn't like to talk about it. Dad doesn't like to talk about it. No one likes to talk about it, but I wanna hear about it. I wanna know what she was like-- who she was-- if I'll ever be like her. Do I like her? No one will tell me.

She liked power. Power is what made her crazy. Witches are witches, but a witch like her-- disconnected from reality-- is dangerous. When I was about six, I chased Bonnie up the stairs. She was with her friends. She's got a scar on her back. When her flipped to one side, I saw the edge of it... I don't know why I thought it was funny, but I did-- I reached out and pinched her skin where the scar was. She turned around and slapped me. Now, there's a 10 year difference between us. Being as big as she was, she knocked me all the way down the stairs. I almost landed on my head, but my dad caught me. He told me not to touch her, anymore. That's when I stopped trying to be Bonnie's little soldier. I was afraid.

Because we didn't have a coven, dad liked to take us all over the world. He made a couple good business decisions and was able to provide for us in way he couldn't when he was with our mother. He took us on all kinds of adventures. We travelled the world... and then one day he gets a call from a relative in Louisiana. The High Priestess is dead and she left no heir. Bonnie was next in line, but she hates being tied down. She declined the throne and passed it to me...

I'm fifteen. I don't know how to rule a coven. I don't even know how to be part of a community-- barely a family. I don't know this side of our family. We were never close. Last time I lived in Baskerville was nine years ago.... I don't know what I've just signed up for, but I know I'm not ready for it.
