Nora Jean had an ordinary upbringing. Her mother was a business owner: she owned a few local music stores in Nashville, TN. That's where Nora Jean was born! Her father was a rancher his whole life. He could wrangle cattle and tame the wildest of mustangs. He taught Nora all she knows about animals. As a child, Nora participated in horse barreling, bull riding, and ropes! Her favorite horse was a black gelding named "Beans". He still lives at her family's ranch back home.
In high school, Nora was a studious student. She didn't have a lot of friends, but she got good grades without much effort. She was never late and she studied for every test whether she felt she needed it or not. She had one steady boyfriend for an entire year before he moved away to college. She didn't experiment much until she got to college. Having felt she missed out on those opportunities as an adolescent, Nora fell deep into the freshman traps. She drank too much, tried all the drugs, and ended up flunking one class. She wrote about it for a "forgiveness essay" to a professor, who encouraged her to pursue a career in writing.
Nora finally chose a major: journalism! She graduated with honors, and spoke at her class's graduation. After college, Nora struggled to move on. She returned home and started working at the local paper, but she wanted more! With music being the heart and soul of Tennessee, Nora Jean was exposed to a lot of different music styles and a lot of different musical artists. Her local paper highlighted the musical industry as a whole, so when news of a semi-popular singer moving to a small town in Louisiana crossed her desk, Nora couldn't resist the mystery.
She packed her bags and headed for the nowheresville that was... Baskerville.
